Highlights from Amazon Upfront at Beacon Theater with Oprah, Chris Pratt, and Michael B. Jordan
Amazon made a significant impression at its Upfront event, featuring celebrated DJ and record producer Diplo as he energized the audience at the start of the evening.
Kacey Musgraves followed shortly after, delivering performances of “Dry Spell” and “Butterflies,” reminding attendees that this year’s Upfront is a departure from traditional expectations.
This shift was underscored by Oprah Winfrey, who kicked off the show following her recent podcast deal with Amazon’s Wondery. Rapper Ice Spice also made an appearance to promote Twitch, while Shaboozey advocated for Prime Sports.
In a striking move, Amazon interrupted its own Upfront presentation with live ads featuring Summer House star Paige DeSorbo, eliciting frustration from the audience. The company heavily emphasized sports, particularly the NFL, with NFL MVP and LA Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford joining the onstage lineup alongside Thursday Night Football hosts Charissa Thompson, Andrew Whitworth, and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Nearly an hour into the event, Amazon shifted its focus to scripted television, unveiling the cast of Off Campus, a show renewed for a second season prior to its premiere.

Following the cast presentation, Global Head of TV Peter Friedlander and Head of Film Courtenay Valenti took the stage.
Friedlander highlighted the success of The Summer I Turned Pretty, which he labeled a “cultural phenomenon” now being adapted into a movie.
“One of the things we do better than anyone in entertainment is reaching young adult audiences. These are the viewers shaping culture in real time, driving conversation, building fandoms, and bringing brands along for the ride,” he stated.
He further emphasized Amazon’s advantage in adapting stories from books to screen, noting, “Many of those stories did start on the page, and that’s the Amazon advantage. Through our store, Audible, and Kindle, we have a direct line to what fans are reading and loving. When we adapt these stories for Prime Video, the engagement is immediate.”
Chris Pratt announced the return of The Terminal List in October, marking its return to the service over four years after season one debuted.
Friedlander proceeded to promote several upcoming projects, including the spinoff Vought Rising from The Boys, the Reacher spinoff Neagley, a new crime drama starring Charlie Hunnam titled Criminal, and an adaptation of Carrie.
Meghann Fahy joined Jane Krakowski at the event, having just come from the NBCUniversal Upfront, promoting the feature film You Deserve Each Other, part of Valenti’s latest slate.
Michael B. Jordan concluded the event by introducing three major projects: a Muhammad Ali drama series titled The Greatest, featuring Jaalen Best as the legendary boxer, along with Fourth Wing and a spinoff of the Creed series called Delphi.
Reflecting on the importance of legacy, Jordan remarked, “As you all know, we live in some challenging times, and I think a lot about what I’m going to leave behind and the impact that I have on the people around me. One man comes to mind when I think of the impact and work. I’m so thankful that I get to be a small part of telling the story of legendary Muhammad Ali. No athlete, no celebrity, no public figure had an impact quite like Ali.”
The Upfront concluded with a familiar face: Arnold Schwarzenegger. Last year, he appeared to promote The Man With The Bag, only to be humorously interrupted on stage by his True Lies co-star Jamie Lee Curtis. This year, he returned to promote the same film, encapsulating the essence of this year’s Upfront week.
