Liam Hemsworth to Star in ‘They Like the Dark’ as Scott Free and Gramercy Park Team Up for Cannes Sales Launch
Liam Hemsworth to Star in Action-Horror Thriller at Cannes Market
Liam Hemsworth is set to take the lead in the upcoming action-horror-thriller film They Like The Dark, which is expected to be a standout at the forthcoming Cannes market.
Directed by Mike Pecci and written by Will Simmons, the film is produced by Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Sam Roston under the banner of Scott Free Productions. Additionally, Joshua Harris, Nathan Klingher, and Ford Corbett are on board as producers for Gramercy Park, which is also financing the project.
They Like The Dark follows a half-blind bomb technician who awakens chained in a warehouse, devoid of memories concerning how he got there. Relying solely on his instincts and a loyal service dog, he must navigate the nightmarish threats lurking in the shadows.
Production for the film is planned to commence in late 2026. CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group are co-representing domestic distribution rights, while Fortitude is overseeing international distribution.
In addition to They Like The Dark, Scott Free Productions has several projects in the pipeline, including The Riders featuring Brad Pitt and directed by Edward Berger for A24, as well as Nighwatching starring Mila Kunis, directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto for Fifth Season. The company is also working on Inground starring Kyle Gallner and Alex Daddario, directed by Aaron Katz for Gramercy Park. Upcoming projects include Here Be Monsters directed by Joachim Ronning for Paramount Pictures and a new installment of the ALIEN franchise at 20th Century Studios. Furthermore, The Dog Stars will premiere this August, with Ridley Scott at the helm and Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin starring.
