The Queen has arrived.
Beyoncé made a highly anticipated return to the Met Gala for the first time in a decade, dazzling attendees in a fully bejeweled gown designed to resemble a skeleton. She completed her striking look with a jeweled headpiece and a dramatic feather shawl.
Not merely a guest, Beyoncé served as co-chair of this year’s event alongside Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams. She turned the occasion into a family celebration, walking the red carpet with her husband, Jay-Z, and their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Notably, Blue Ivy is among the youngest attendees at the gala, which enforces an 18+ age limit, making her inclusion an exception. The family posed together on the red carpet, showcasing their close bond.
In a moment that thrilled fans, Beyoncé gave a rare interview to red carpet host La La Anthony. “This is the moment that everybody’s been waiting for,” Anthony said as she introduced the iconic singer, who reflected on her return to the gala.
“It feels surreal because my daughter’s here,” Beyoncé shared. “She looks so beautiful. It’s incredible to be able to share it with her.”
Beyoncé expressed her excitement about experiencing the gala through her daughter’s perspective and mentioned her anticipation for the evening. She highlighted her gown, stating, “I’m wearing Olivier Rousteing, who is someone that has been so loyal to me, and I’ve done so many incredible, iconic looks with him.” Rousteing was the creative director at Balmain for 14 years before departing the fashion house in 2025. “So it’s really about representing him.”
Both Anthony and Beyoncé shared their enthusiasm for celebrating diverse body types, a significant focus of The Met Costume Institute’s spring exhibition theme, “Costume Art.”
“The different juicy, curvy, thin, tall, whatever. Just celebrating whatever God gave you,” Beyoncé declared.
With Beyoncé’s appearance sparking speculation, many are wondering if she might use the gala as a platform to announce Act III, the anticipated final installment of an album trilogy that began with Renaissance and Cowboy Carter. However, fans may need to temper their expectations; a representative for the singer responded to a fan account’s speculation on social media, stating, “This is unequivocally false!!” As of now, Beyoncé has not made any announcements regarding the album.
