LAPD Responds to SNL Writer Jimmy Fowlie’s Statement About His Missing Sister
‘SNL’ Writer Jimmy Fowlie Confirms Sister’s Death Amid Ongoing Investigation
LOS ANGELES – Jimmy Fowlie, a writer for "Saturday Night Live," announced on Instagram that his sister, Christina Lynn Downer, is "no longer alive," following a four-month period since her disappearance. This revelation has sparked conflicting reports regarding the status of the investigation into her case.
Downer, 38, was reported missing after being last seen in Koreatown, Los Angeles, in late November. Fowlie shared that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) informed the family of her presumed death on April 29. In his post, he expressed concerns that his sister’s phone and social media accounts were compromised before her disappearance, allegedly by individuals seeking to obscure her absence and solicit money from others.
While Fowlie has claimed that the case has shifted to a homicide investigation, the LAPD has publicly contradicted this assertion. A statement issued by the department maintains that Downer remains missing and that her case has not been reclassified as a homicide.
The LAPD’s ongoing investigation has raised questions regarding the management of Downer’s social media accounts in December and whether any tangible evidence has emerged to confirm her death.
Fowlie’s post emphasized the suspicious circumstances surrounding his sister’s disappearance. He stated, "The individuals in possession of her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone… I believe that whoever is responsible is hoping to erase her in every way possible."
Addressing the situation, the LAPD acknowledged the concerning nature of Downer’s case but reiterated that “although the circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, Ms. Downer has not been located." They committed to a thorough investigation by the Robbery-Homicide Division in pursuit of clarity.
As the investigation continues, Fowlie has urged the public to share information about his sister’s situation, hoping someone may have pertinent details. The LAPD is appealing to anyone with information related to Downer’s disappearance or potential compromises of her accounts to reach out at (213) 486-6850.
