Paramount Announces Release Date for Call of Duty Movie Adaptation
On Thursday, Paramount Pictures unveiled a sizzle reel for its live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise Call of Duty, confirming a release date of June 30, 2028. The announcement took place during the studio’s presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Director Peter Berg, who co-wrote the script with Taylor Sheridan, introduced the sizzle reel alongside producer Rob Kostich. The clip, set to The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army,” primarily featured footage from the video game itself, with details regarding the film’s plot still under wraps.
Kostich emphasized the importance of collaborating with the right partners by stating, “We were only interested in making this film with the right leadership, someone who cares about the IP as much as we do, and in David Ellison we found that partnership.”
Berg expressed his commitment to authenticity, noting his deep connection to the special operations community. He aims to depict this world truthfully while incorporating a grand scale into the film.
Call of Duty is among the most successful video game franchises in history. Launched in 2003, it has dominated sales in the U.S. for 16 consecutive years, selling over 500 million copies worldwide and reaching hundreds of millions of players. Paramount and Activision are jointly developing and producing the film, with Paramount responsible for its distribution. Sheridan and David Glasser will also share producing credits.
