The videos utilizing the song amassed over 68.6 billion views. A standout clip featuring Kylie Jenner and her daughter Stormi drew in over 132 million views. The surge in popularity began in May when the song ascended to the top of the TikTok Music Charts with more than 1.3 million posts.
The unexpected revival deeply touched Francis, who shared with PEOPLE that she “barely remembered” recording the song in 1962.
“To tell you the truth, I didn’t even remember the song!” she revealed in May, shortly before her passing in July. “I had to listen to it to remember. To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is touching the hearts of millions of people is truly awesome. It is an amazing feeling.”
During its viral peak, Francis remarked that she “never thought it was possible” for her song to gain such traction after so many years.
“It’s a dream come true. To think that kindergarten kids now know my name and my music? It’s just thrilling!” she said.
Francis later joined TikTok, engaging with fans in her first post. “I’m flabbergasted and excited about the huge buzz my 1962 recording of ‘Pretty Little Baby’ is making all over the world,” she remarked, describing the renewed interest as “truly overwhelming.”
The song originally appeared on Francis’ album Connie Francis Sings Second Hand Love & Other Hits and was among 40 tracks recorded during sessions spanning four days in August 1961. While it did not achieve chart success initially, TikTok’s embrace transformed it into her most-streamed song.
“Pretty Little Baby” amassed over 130 million streams on Spotify and featured prominently, spending weeks on both the Billboard Global 200 and the U.K. Official Chart. Various official audios on TikTok served as the backdrop for numerous videos, while countless shorter clips helped amplify the reach of the song.
Francis, a pioneering figure in the music industry from the 1950s and 1960s and the first woman to achieve a No. 1 rank on the Billboard Hot 100, experienced this late-career renaissance before her passing on July 16, 2025, at the age of 87. Her legacy continues to resonate with a new generation discovering her music for the first time.
