Sydney Sweeney Shines in Her Latest American Eagle Campaign Featuring Classic Denim Shorts
Sydney Sweeney Launches New Summer Campaign with American Eagle
Actress Sydney Sweeney has rejoined forces with American Eagle for a new summer advertising campaign, following the buzz generated by her previous collaboration with the brand. The campaign, titled “Syd for Short: American Eagle Jean Shorts,” debuted on April 15.
In the latest advertisement, the 28-year-old star, known for her role in Euphoria, showcases a collection of denim cutoffs. In one striking image, Sweeney wears a pair of blue denim cutoffs paired with an off-the-shoulder white blouse. Another shot features her in light-wash shorts with a frayed hem and a simple white tee, highlighting her radiant skin and soft makeup, which included pink lips and long lashes. Her blonde bob, styled in loose waves, added to her beach-ready look.
The campaign also includes a lively video where Sweeney dons a denim crop top tied at her waist while showing off various outfits against a blue sky backdrop. “What brand am I wearing?” she asks playfully. The camera captures her dancing and posing in the diverse styles, demonstrating the versatility of the jean shorts.
In a press release, Sweeney expressed her thoughts on denim, saying, “There’s something timeless about a great pair of jean shorts. They’re simple, but they make you feel confident and put-together without trying too hard.” She also highlighted a charity aspect of the campaign, noting that custom styles are designed to donate 100% of net proceeds to the Crisis Text Line, supporting individuals in need. “Crisis Text Line, a cause so close to my heart, has been a part of this partnership from the beginning,” she said. “I love knowing that when everyone wears these pieces, they are also a part of something meaningful.”
This new campaign comes amidst a backdrop of past controversy. Sweeney’s first advertising effort with American Eagle generated significant discussion in August 2025 after she commented on her “great jeans.” Some critics likened the messaging to ideas around white supremacy and eugenics. In response to the backlash, American Eagle stated that her comments were about celebrating individual stories through denim.
Sweeney later reflected on the controversy, stating, “I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life.”
With her latest campaign, Sweeney aims to reclaim the narrative around her partnership with American Eagle, focusing on style, confidence, and charitable contributions.
