Woman Charged with Gunfire at Rihanna’s Home Pleads Not Guilty
Shooting Incident at Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s Home
A 35-year-old Florida woman has been charged with attempted murder after shots were fired at the home of music stars Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. Ivanna Ortiz pleaded not guilty during a court appearance on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Authorities allege that Ortiz, armed with an AR-15 style rifle, opened fire outside the couple’s residence in the Beverly Crest neighborhood. Bullets struck both a gate and an Airstream trailer parked in the driveway, where the couple, along with their three children, were present at the time.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed that no injuries resulted from the shooting. "Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were in the trailer at the time of the incident," he stated.
Ortiz now faces several serious charges, including attempted murder with special allegations related to the use of a firearm. Additionally, she has been charged with ten counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, each accompanied by allegations of firearm use, as well as three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle.
Prosecutors note that Ortiz also fired at a neighbor’s home during the incident. Her bail has been set at $1.875 million.
Witnesses reported seeing a Tesla circling the area just before the gunfire erupted around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The LAPD confirmed that ten people were present at the property during the shooting. Ortiz was arrested roughly three miles away during a traffic stop, where police found her in possession of a 30-round magazine.
California law restricts the possession of large-capacity magazines, a regulation that was further tightened by Proposition 63 in 2016. Police indicated that approximately seven to nine rounds were discharged at the couple’s home, with the front gate showing visible damage from bullets.
Details surrounding Ortiz’s possible motive remain unclear. Law enforcement records reveal a history of police interaction in Florida, including an arrest on suspicion of domestic violence battery in June 2023.
Representatives for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky did not respond to inquiries for comment. The couple recently celebrated the arrival of their third child in September.
