Dua Lipa Speaks Out Against Epstein Files Discussion, Highlighting Its Impact on Victims
Dua Lipa has raised concerns about the portrayal of victims in the Jeffrey Epstein case, emphasizing the need for a more compassionate narrative focused on those affected.
In the latest episode of her *Service 95* podcast, released on March 15, Lipa discussed Epstein’s crimes during a conversation with author Roxane Gay. “The way that the crimes have been reported, and the language that’s been used, has been doing such a disservice to all the victims,” she stated.
Lipa continued, “I keep thinking about all the stories that talk about the underage girls and the sex parties, rather than writing about the victims that were children who were trafficked. It’s putting everything under some kind of veil to protect — I don’t know who, [maybe] the reader — or trying to mask what is happening.”
Epstein, who died by suicide in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of running a sex-trafficking operation involving minors, had previously served 13 months for soliciting prostitution from a minor.
The recent release of millions of documents detailing Epstein’s crimes has predominantly drawn attention to high-profile individuals connected to him and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in the operation. Notable names mentioned in the files include President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Prince Andrew, all of whom have denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.
Meanwhile, in the music industry, Casey Wasserman recently sold his talent agency, which represented artists such as Chappell Roan, Orville Peck, and Gigi Perez, in response to revelations from emails he exchanged with Maxwell, made public in the Epstein files. In a statement addressing the controversy, Wasserman said, “I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light. I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.”
Lipa has a history of engaging with complex political issues and has previously spoken out about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the plight of the Palestinian people.
In 2024, she released new music, reaching No. 2 on the *Billboard 200* with her album *Radical Optimism*.
