Police Address False Alarm Incident at Disneyland
Three Swatting Incidents Linked to Social Media Influencers
The Anaheim Police Department responded to a swatting call at Disneyland on Wednesday night that was associated with two well-known livestreamers. The incident unfolded shortly before 10 p.m., while the theme park was still operational but remained open and was not evacuated.
One of the livestreamers involved, who goes by the name "Oblivion," was seen in a video engaging with law enforcement. "It’s just a random internet guy that just swatted us," he stated, clarifying the situation as a misunderstanding.
This false alarm was part of a series of three swatting incidents reported in Los Angeles and Orange counties on the same night. Following the situation at Disneyland, police responded to a separate call just before midnight regarding a man allegedly armed with a gun at a residence in Fullerton. Officers left the scene after confirming that there was no threat present.
Earlier in the evening, Arcadia police had dealt with another false report at The Shops at Santa Anita. Around 5 p.m., officers arrived at the shopping mall with their guns drawn, instructing shoppers in a Journey’s store to take cover. This disturbance also stemmed from a hoax call involving firearm threats.
Authorities indicated that all three swatting incidents appeared to be linked to social media influencers, some of whom were streaming live during the occurrences. As of now, it remains unclear whether any individuals involved will face charges.
