Martin Short Delays Comedy Tour After the Loss of His Daughter Katherine
Martin Short is stepping back from his comedy tour with Steve Martin as he mourns the loss of his daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Short. The duo’s scheduled performance on February 27 at Milwaukee’s Miller High Life Theatre, part of The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short tour, has been postponed, along with two additional shows in Minneapolis on February 28.
A statement posted on the venue’s website noted, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Steve Martin & Martin Short’s show, originally scheduled for Friday, February 27th in Milwaukee, has been postponed. Tickets will be honored for a future rescheduled date. We will be in contact with further news when it is available.”
The tour’s next performance is still listed as scheduled for March 13 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
Katherine’s passing was confirmed by her family following a response from the Los Angeles Fire Department to a call concerning a possible suicide at a Hollywood Hills home. “It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” her family stated. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Katherine, along with her siblings Oliver and Henry, were adopted by Short and his late wife, Nancy Dolman, who passed away in 2010 after a battle with ovarian cancer.
