Sherman Oaks Notre Dame Secures Win Against El Dorado in High-Scoring Baseball Match
In a thrilling encounter on Tuesday, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame triumphed over El Dorado, clinching a 9-7 victory. The Knights, who had planned to lean on their pitching this season, found themselves in a battle of offense, showcasing their power hitters.
Jacob Madrid was a standout player, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs. Troy Trejo played a pivotal role by breaking a 7-7 tie in the top of the seventh with a two-run home run. AJ LaSota also contributed significantly, delivering 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief, helping Notre Dame improve their record to 3-0.
For El Dorado, Xavi Cadena demonstrated his strength at the plate, hitting a home run and securing three RBIs.
In other matchups, Santa Margarita edged out Harvard-Westlake 4-3, bolstered by Cooper Holland’s perfect three-for-three performance and a strong five innings from Tyler George.
Sierra Canyon followed suit with a 5-2 victory over Huntington Beach. The Trailblazers seized control after Oilers ace Jared Grindlinger completed four flawless innings, during which he allowed no hits or runs. Armando Solorio contributed to the win with three innings of shutout relief, while Dane Cunningham added a home run for Huntington Beach.
Gahr’s Bryce Morrison recorded two hits and two RBIs, leading to a 6-1 win against Crespi. Luis Alonso pitched five shutout innings, striking out five batters and helping Gahr maintain a perfect 2-0 record.
In the game between Corona and Etiwanda, Trey Ebel’s two hits and Anthony Murphy’s impressive pitching debut—two scoreless innings with three strikeouts—were key for Corona’s 4-2 victory.
Norco triumphed over Garden Grove Pacifica 4-0, largely due to Landon Hovermale’s remarkable performance on the mound, where he struck out 15 while giving up just one hit in 6 2/3 innings. Batters Dylan Seward, Jordan Ayala, and Jayden Serna each recorded two hits.
The Servite team defeated Loyola 8-1, highlighted by John Sullivan’s grand slam and three hits from Gavin Gonzalez.
Foothill claimed a 5-3 victory against Los Alamitos, with Evan Kim providing a two-run double and finishing with three RBIs. In a dominant display, Chaparral blanked Eisenhower 23-0, with Griffin Fien going four for five in the five-inning mercy rule match, while Jaiden Lopez hit three doubles.
Cypress secured an 8-2 victory over West Ranch, led by Hibiki Suzuki, who contributed two hits and four RBIs. Tate Belfanti struck out ten in four innings for his team.
Edison won against Mission Viejo with a score of 4-2, thanks to Will Stanley’s seven strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Long Beach Millikan defeated Banning 5-0, fueled by Maison Crommie’s six scoreless innings, during which he struck out seven batters.
Royal earned a 5-0 victory over Santa Monica, with Ethan Hall hitting a home run and Dustin Dunnwoody striking out nine batters across five innings.
Softball Update
In softball, JSerra recorded a 4-0 victory over Riverside Poly, with Liliana Escobar impressively striking out 15 batters. JSerra also secured a subsequent win against South Hills, finishing with a score of 2-0.
