Rebecca Gayheart Remembers Estranged Husband Eric Dane Following His Death
Rebecca Gayheart expressed her grief on Sunday following the passing of her estranged husband, Eric Dane, who died at age 53 from complications related to ALS on February 19. Though the couple separated in 2017, they maintained a friendly relationship up to Dane’s death.
In a heartfelt tribute shared on social media, Gayheart reflected on the “difficult” loss and conveyed her appreciation for the support from the community during this trying time. She posted a photo of a candlelit shrine dedicated to Dane, featuring pictures of him alongside Gayheart and their daughters.
The couple shares two daughters, Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 14. In an Instagram Story, Gayheart remarked, “There aren’t words to express our gratitude. You are truly holding us up during this difficult time.” She also shared intimate family moments, including candid photographs of Dane with their daughters.
Gayheart and Dane’s separation did not diminish their connection. Shortly before Dane publicly revealed his ALS diagnosis, Gayheart withdrew her divorce filing, and they remained supportive of one another up until his passing. A family statement released after Dane’s death described his final moments, saying he was surrounded by friends, Gayheart, and their daughters, who were “the center of his world.”
In his last interview, Dane spoke openly about their enduring bond, stating, “We still love each other deeply… I will have never… fallen in love with another woman as deeply as I fell in love with Rebecca.” His reflections underscore the complexity of their relationship, marked by both love and separation.
