Kliff Kingsbury, Former Cardinals Coach, Joins the Rams’ Coaching Team
Kliff Kingsbury to Join Sean McVay’s Staff with the Rams
Los Angeles—Kliff Kingsbury, who previously coached the Arizona Cardinals, is set to join the Los Angeles Rams under head coach Sean McVay, according to a source familiar with the situation. The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, indicated that Kingsbury’s specific role has yet to be officially announced.
Kingsbury, 46, led the Cardinals from 2019 until 2022 and served as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders over the past three seasons. Under his guidance, the Commanders reached the NFC Championship game in 2024, although they struggled last season, finishing with a 5-12 record.
With Mike LaFleur now appointed as the head coach of the Cardinals, the Rams currently have an opening for the offensive coordinator position. Pass-game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, who has interviewed with multiple teams for head coaching roles, is considered a strong candidate for the position. Additionally, quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone brings prior experience as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.
“We’ve got some really good coaches in-house that we’re going to continue to develop,” McVay stated in a recent press conference. “I think it is thorough and it’s the right and reasonable approach to be able to have a wide-ranging search while full-well knowing that I’ve got more than capable guys that could step up and do a phenomenal job.”
