St. Bernard Celebrates Victory in the Del Rey League Boys’ Basketball Championship
Brandon Granger Shines as St. Bernard Claims Del Rey League Championship
Brandon Granger, a 5-foot-10 junior guard at St. Bernard High School, has made a significant impact this season, averaging 25 points per game. His notable performance in the recent Del Rey League championship, where he scored 28 points, helped secure an 80-65 victory over St. Paul. This win solidified St. Bernard’s position with a final record of 17-11.
In addition to Granger, Jordan Ballard, a transfer from Westchester, has been instrumental in the Vikings’ success this season. Under the leadership of head coach Bernard McCrumby, an alumnus of the school who previously coached at Gardena Serra, the team celebrated their league title just two years into McCrumby’s tenure.
The Del Rey League remains highly competitive, with St. Monica finishing in second place, followed by St. Anthony in third, St. Pius X-St. Matthias in fourth, and St. Paul in fifth. McCrumby took charge with a vision to revitalize the Vikings’ program.
St. Bernard will learn its playoff positioning in the Southern Section when pairings are announced this Saturday at noon.
