Nia Vardalos and Richard T. Jones Join the Cast of ’21 Down’ as Filming Kicks Off
EXCLUSIVE: Nia Vardalos, Dylan Walsh, Richard T. Jones, Moira Kelly, Christopher Convery, Joshua Malina, and Max Adler will join Ashley Judd and Dashiell Meier in the upcoming sports drama 21 Down.
The film is described as a poignant narrative focusing on family bonds, perseverance, and the quest for inclusion. It draws inspiration from the true story of Caden Cox, who made history as the first person with Down syndrome to play and score in a college football game.
In 21 Down, Ashley Judd portrays Mari, Caden’s mother, highlighting the relentless determination of his parents to help their son achieve his dreams against all odds.
Sean McNamara will direct the film, based on a screenplay by Jay Paul Deratany and Oscar-winning writer Ron Bass. Production is currently taking place in Atlanta.
Andrew Sugerman, known for his work on Shopgirl, Premonition, and Conviction, is producing through Pantheon Entertainment. Deratany also serves as a producer through his company, Reel Red Films. Executive producers include Judd, Melissa Bickerton, and Thom Lipari.
