Leonardo DiCaprio is reflecting on his viral moment at the 2026 Golden Globes. A video clip shared on the award show’s official TikTok captured the actor’s animated expressions and laughter during a conversation with someone just out of view. The footage quickly gained traction online.
In an interview with Deadline, DiCaprio revealed that he was talking to “a friend” while keeping details vague. “It was directed to a friend, but at the end of the day, who knows if this other person that I was talking to wants me to even mention their name?” he remarked. “So, as the lead character says in A Bronx Tale, I’m not a rat.”
His costar in One Battle After Another, Teyana Taylor, previously shared that they were joking about her daughters’ enthusiasm for the Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters during the same conversation. She remarked on Access Hollywood that she was unaware the moment was being recorded, and later clarified on The Tonight Show that DiCaprio was speaking to someone else in the viral clip.
“I was like, ‘You can’t be talking to me, were you talking to me?’ Because I already told people he was talking to me. So apparently he had two KPop Demon Hunter conversations that night,” Taylor joked. “And I’m like, ‘Who else is you kekeing with like that?’ Because literally that’s how we [talk, with animated gestures].”

During the Golden Globes commercial break, DiCaprio was seen making eye contact with another star, gesturing and appearing to mouth, “I was watching you, when the K-Pop thing, you were like, ‘Is that — who is that?'” The interaction prompted laughter, adding to the whimsical nature of his moment.
One Battle After Another secured four Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), and earned Taylor recognition for her performance as Perfidia Beverly Hills. Both actors are set to compete at the 2026 Actor Awards on March 1, where the film garnered six nominations.
On Thursday morning, further nominations for the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed film were announced. DiCaprio received his eighth Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role, along with nominations for Best Picture and supporting roles for both Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn, as well as Taylor for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
DiCaprio expressed gratitude concerning the film’s nominations, stating, “That is the ultimate compliment for this film. Having watched the film that way a multitude of times myself, I feel it’s a testament to the incredible amount of thought that Paul put into this story.” He also praised the film’s relevance, highlighting its exploration of critical global themes: “To me, it really is original filmmaking… Paul made one of those films that I’m going to be so proud to look back on. I feel like he really put his thumb on the pulse of America right now.”
