KPop Demon Hunters Sets New Netflix Record While Wednesday Season 2 Tops TV Ratings in Late 2025
KPop Demon Hunters Tops Netflix Viewership in 2025’s Second Half
KPop Demon Hunters has solidified its status as a cultural phenomenon, with Netflix reporting it as the platform’s most-watched title ever over a six-month period. According to Netflix’s biannual engagement report, the animated feature attracted an impressive 482 million views in the latter half of 2025, a figure that does not include the initial 10 days of viewing following its premiere on June 20.
The report, which accompanies Netflix’s quarterly earnings releases, details viewing metrics from July to December 2025. Additionally, KPop Demon Hunters Lyric Videos garnered 32 million views, further underscoring the film’s extraordinary popularity. The project has recently collected multiple Golden Globe awards and is regarded as a strong contender for the Oscars.
In comparison, Happy Gilmore 2, which debuted shortly after on July 25, achieved 135.1 million views by the year’s end. The film had set a record for the largest U.S. opening weekend for a Netflix title.
On the series front, the most-watched program was Wednesday Season 2, which premiered on August 6, recording 123.9 million views through the end of 2025. The first season of Wednesday had already made its mark, ranking eighth among all shows on Netflix in the latter half of the year, with 47 million views.
Despite a limited viewing period, Stranger Things 5 captured the second position among series with 93.5 million views, including only a few hours’ worth of the series finale after its debut on New Year’s Eve. The initial data suggests Stranger Things will likely remain competitive in future reports.
The first two seasons of Stranger Things are also noted, with Season 1 achieving fifth place with 57 million views and Season 2 landing at tenth with 45 million views.
The final season of Squid Game featured prominently as well, although viewers only had a brief window to access Season 3 data following its June 27 premiere.
Meanwhile, Untamed, initially slated as a limited series, has secured a second season after ranking third among series for the latter half of the year, with 92.8 million views since its July 17 premiere.
Ryan Murphy’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story achieved sixth place with 56 million views in its final two months post-premiere on October 3. Additionally, despite its late launch on December 2, Sean Combs: The Reckoning amassed 50.8 million views, securing seventh place for the latter half of the year.
While these figures provide valuable insights into viewership trends, it is important to note that they reflect only the most recent six months. A broader narrative of Netflix’s performance can be gleaned from viewers’ interests in the first half of 2025, which was led by Adolescence and Back in Action.
In total, Netflix users watched 96 billion hours of content from July to December, demonstrating a rise of 1 billion hours compared to the previous six months.
