Top Nominations for Actor Awards: Movies and TV Shows Leading the Pack

The nominations for the 2026 Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, were announced on Wednesday, showcasing a competitive lineup in both film and television categories. This marks a significant event in the awards season, as nominees reflect the current buzz in Hollywood.

Leading the nominees in the Motion Picture Ensemble category are four films that have stirred conversation in the run-up to the awards: Netflix’s Frankenstein, Focus Features’ Hamnet, A24’s Marty Supreme, and Warner Bros.’ duo, One Battle After Another and Sinners.

A total of 15 categories are in contention, with six dedicated to motion pictures and nine to television. Notably, Timothée Chalamet is nominated for Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme, following his previous win for playing Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. This year, he will be competing against Leonardo DiCaprio from One Battle, Ethan Hawke from Blue Moon, Michael B. Jordan from Sinners, and Jesse Plemons from Bugonia.

In the Best Actress category, nominees include Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, Rose Byrne for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Kate Hudson for Song Sung Blue, Chase Infinity for One Battle After Another, and Emma Stone for Bugonia.

This announcement marks the latest influence from a prominent Hollywood guild in the ongoing awards season, which has seen strong performances from Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. Notably, One Battle leads with seven individual nominations, followed by Sinners with five, contributing to Warner Bros.’ total of 13 nominations overall. Focus Features and A24 follow with six and four nominations, respectively.

Last year, Conclave secured the Ensemble prize and went on to receive eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

Turning to television, Apple TV’s The Studio, last year’s Emmy-winning comedy series, received five nominations, including for Ensemble. Other nominated comedies are ABC’s Abbott Elementary, Hulu’s The Bear, HBO Max’s Hacks, and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. In the Drama Ensemble category, nominees include Netflix’s The Diplomat, Paramount+’s Landman, HBO Max’s The Pitt, Apple TV’s Severance, and HBO’s The White Lotus.

Although there is no category for limited series ensemble, Netflix’s Adolescence garnered four individual nominations with actors Owen Cooper, Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, and Christine Tremarco recognized.

Janelle James of Abbott Elementary and Connor Storrie of Heated Rivalry announced the nominees during a live stream on Netflix. The winners will be revealed in a ceremony scheduled for Sunday, March 1, which will also be livestreamed. During this event, Harrison Ford will receive the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award, a prestigious honor celebrating his career and humanitarian contributions.
