As the 2025 NL Cy Young Award winner and 2024 Rookie of the Year, Skenes emphasized the importance of balancing work and relaxation during the off-season. “Honestly, that’s kind of how I slow it down. Just the day-to-day train in the morning and then go on the boat, do something like that in the afternoon. It’s a good way to spend a day,” he explained.
Reflecting on his recent achievements, Skenes expressed appreciation for winning the Cy Young Award. “I appreciate it. That’s something that I think a lot of pitchers shoot for,” he said, adding that the award is a testament to a successful season.

It’s incredible that somebody at his age has accomplished what he has. It’s cool that I get to be by his side while he does it.”
