Chilli and Matthew Lawrence have officially transitioned their romantic relationship to the professional realm, co-hosting the new Hallmark+ series Second Chance Love.
The couple started dating in 2022 and are now featured in the series, which allows five couples to rekindle their past relationships in Sardinia.
Lawrence expressed confidence in their ability to work together, stating, “It is interesting when you work with family, a loved one in that regard, but I had no doubts that we were going to be just fine because of the way we handle our personal life. There’s nothing but love and respect, so I was not worried at all, and I think it went off pretty darn good.”
Chilli echoed this sentiment, noting, “It’s funny that we can work together and everything just flows naturally,” while Matthew described the experience as “a great experience.”

The couples featured in the show span a wide age range, from their 30s to their 70s, and share a history dating back five to 40 years. Their two-week journeys promise a mix of nostalgia, emotional reflection, and intimate dates. Under the guidance of Chilli and Matthew, participants will confront their pasts and revisit old connections.
Both hosts emphasized that the choice to take on this project was aligned with their values. “I think we both felt secure in that Hallmark was going to make a very wholesome good product,” Matthew affirmed. “That was the most important thing to us. We didn’t want to be a part of a show that was salacious in any way, shape, or form. We just wanted to be a part of something that was feel-good and that everybody—”
“That the whole family could watch,” Chilli added. “And this show is that.”
The couple also shared insights gained from the contestants, particularly the significance of closure in relationships. “Not one couple is the same, but what they have in common is they have this past and they want to get together and see if something is going to take off again or not,” Chilli remarked. “You just need that closure because it’s always like, well, what if, or if I had said this…”
“That wondering I think will always keep eating at you, and I think it’s great for people to be able to go back, see if it’s something that they should spend their time thinking about or not,” Matthew added. “Some things are maybe meant to go forward and never were meant to end, and then certain things are probably just better left in the past.”

The creative process has instilled confidence in the couple regarding future collaborations. “I was like, wow, we can work together,” Chilli noted. “Because you don’t always know if you can do that. And if you can’t, that doesn’t mean that you’re not supposed to be together. Some people just can’t work together or mix that business in, but we seem to be able to do that with ease.”
The couple went public with their relationship on Instagram in late 2022, sharing a lighthearted video of them dancing in matching pajamas. Chilli reflected on their journey at the time, saying, “God has perfect timing. Never early and never late. It takes a little patience and a lot of faith.”
In their roles, they also prioritize looking out for each other on set. “If he can tell I’m getting hungry or something or if I need some water or vice versa, we look out for each other,” Chilli explained.
“It’s important,” Matthew agreed.
Second Chance Love is now available for viewers on Hallmark+.
