Zoe Saldaña is embracing the linguistic shifts of Generation Alpha, highlighting her efforts to understand the latest trends in youth vernacular. In a recent conversation with PEOPLE, the Oscar-winning actress discussed how the phrase “6-7” has caught her attention as a notable cultural moment from 2025.
“I am just so hyper-focused on this Gen Alpha lingo, and I’m gonna get it,” Saldaña, 47, stated while reflecting on the impact of the phrase, which has become a viral sensation. The expression gained traction through the song “Doot Doot (6 7)” by Skrilla, featuring the repetitive lyric “6-7.” This has also coincided with the rise of NBA player LaMelo Ball, who is often associated with the meme due to his height of 6 feet, 7 inches.
The phenomenon of “6-7” has permeated social media platforms, especially TikTok, where users frequently reference it in various contexts. Its significance was officially recognized when Dictionary.com named it the word of the year in October 2025.
Saldaña isn’t stopping at one phrase; she is also becoming familiar with terms like “aura,” which refers to a person’s natural charm or presence. “But, every time I think that I’m preserving my aura, that’s when I’m told that I lost it,” she humorously remarked.
To deepen her understanding of modern slang, Saldaña is collaborating with internet personality Druski in a new T-Mobile advertisement. This spot promotes T-Mobile’s 15-minute switch experience, allowing customers to change carriers quickly.
“She’s been learning about improvisation through her work with Druski, who encourages spontaneity during shoots,” said Saldaña. “Sometimes, if I just lean heavily and solely on the lines, then I leave very little space for improvisation or catching anything that may occur that is not even planned. It’s those moments that are absolutely special, and Druski does it so beautifully.”
The T-Mobile advertisement featuring Saldaña and Druski is set to debut on January 3rd.
