Daniel Curtis Lee has come to the aid of his former Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide co-star, Tylor Chase, during a challenging time.
Lee, 34, recently shared updates via Instagram about Chase, 36, who has been living without a home in California. A video featuring the two men enjoying a meal at a pizza restaurant went viral on social media. Following their meal, Lee accompanied Chase to a hotel room, where he planned to stay while coordinating efforts for long-term assistance.
In his first Instagram clip, Lee addressed concerns from people asking about his ongoing communication with Chase since the TikTok video. “So, a lot of people have been reaching out, and seeing if I’m still in touch with Tylor since that last TikTok video where I went to visit him,” Lee said. “And, yeah, man, as a matter of fact, I just got off a call with him.”
Discussing the challenges of maintaining contact with Chase, Lee explained, “he’ll have a phone one day and then maybe not the next.” He expressed his intention to establish a fund to help Chase regain stability and indicated he was researching appropriate rehabilitation programs.
In a subsequent Instagram video on December 23, Lee shared that Chase was able to video call his father and mentioned that several of Chase’s former co-stars are collaboratively working to secure him a spot in a suitable facility. “A lot of you guys are concerned about Tylor Chase this holiday season, and I just wanted to give you an update,” Lee said, highlighting efforts made by actor Shaun Weiss and his team to admit Chase to a hospital, although complications arose.
Lee detailed the experience: “So they couldn’t get him into a car last night, and that’s why they weren’t able to get him to the hospital.” He added, “Yeah, it’s the holiday season. It’s raining out, and I just want them to have at least some basic accommodations. He wanted to stay local, and this was the only one that was open and accepted people.”

Chase expressed gratitude during a moment of connection, saying, “Okay, thank you so much,” as Lee embraced him inside the hotel room. Lee responded warmly, “Give me a hug, man. Love you, brother. Love you, man. So happy to see you, dude. You’re the man, brother, and I believe in you, and we’re gonna win, bro. All we got to do is stay with it and keep working, dude.”
On December 22, Weiss — known for his role in the Mighty Ducks films — shared in an Instagram video that he had received numerous inquiries about Chase and had mobilized efforts to assist him. “I reached out to some friends of mine and we have a bed for him at a detox and we have a place for him to go and get long-term treatment,” Weiss stated, reaching out for community support.
Weiss, who has shared his own struggles with homelessness and addiction, emphasized the importance of support in recovery. “I benefited from a tremendous amount of support from people who were invested in my recovery,” he said.
Chase portrayed Martin Qwerly in Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, which aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon from 2004 to 2007. Since the recent public concern for Chase’s well-being, Lee and fellow co-stars Devon Werkheiser and Lindsey Shaw have been vocal about their commitment to helping him. “All of us in the Ned’s community are figuring out what it looks like to see him,” Werkheiser remarked. “How can we help? What can we do?”
