- The figure is dressed in an outfit worn during a meeting with King Charles in July 2024.
Idris Elba has been immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds London, a tribute revealed on December 19. The 53-year-old actor, a former titleholder of PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive, expressed astonishment as he encountered the likeness of himself.
In an Instagram video shared by the museum, Elba candidly reacted to the replica. “I am speechless literally. Wow. Hold on, I’ve got to call my mum. She’s gonna freak,” he said before FaceTiming his mother, Eve.
Her enthusiastic response was unmistakable: “Oh, my God!” she exclaimed.
The wax figure depicts Elba in attire from a meeting with King Charles, where they discussed youth violence issues and The King’s Trust. Reacting to the honor, Elba stated, “It’s truly an honour to be recognised in this way and even more special to know this other version of me will be standing tall in London. So, even when I’m away, a part of me is always at home.”
The process behind the creation of the figure resonated with the actor, who commented, “The process has been fascinating. It’s not dissimilar to prepping for a movie role—working with talented artists to flesh out the character, getting the costume just right, but this time it’s for me!”
