Zendaya Dazzles in White Dress from 2015 Oscars at LA Premiere of Wedding Film ‘The Drama’
Zendaya embraced the theme of nostalgia at the Los Angeles premiere of her new wedding-themed film, The Drama, held on Tuesday, March 17. The actress, 29, turned heads in a striking silk gown designed by Vivienne Westwood, which she initially wore at the 2015 Oscars.
Sporting shorter hair styled with a side part, Zendaya radiated glamour reminiscent of her appearance over a decade ago at the prestigious awards show. In a red carpet interview with Variety, she discussed collaborating with her stylist, Law Roach, to repurpose this standout piece from her collection.
“I kind of remembered the saying, ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,’ so this is my something old, so I thought I’d bring it back and give it a new life,” she explained. “It meant so much to me this dress. It was such an important moment for myself, my community, for my loved ones. It felt right. And it also just happened to be a wedding dress, so that works!”
Zendaya’s reflections may also reference the controversy surrounding her 2015 Oscars appearance. During a segment on E!’s Fashion Police, co-host Giuliana Rancic made disparaging remarks about the actress’s hairstyle, suggesting she looked like she smelled “like patchouli oil or weed.” At the time, Zendaya, who was just 18, addressed the comments on Instagram, emphasizing the offensive and stereotypical nature of the remarks.
She stated, “There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful. Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe—not because I was relishing in rave
