Zach Bryan Takes a Subtle Jab at Ex Brianna LaPaglia in New Album Track

Zach Bryan has released his first album since his split from Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia and his recent marriage to Samantha Leonard. The new LP, titled With Heaven on Top, delves into themes related to both relationships.
Launched on Friday, January 9, the album features a standout track entitled “Skin.” In this song, Bryan makes poignant references to his past relationship, including a significant tattoo that LaPaglia bears—a “How lucky are we?” ink. This phrase also appeared in the song “28,” which was released in 2024. Reports suggest Bryan received a similar tattoo to match LaPaglia’s.
In the chorus, he sings, “I’m taking a blade to my old tattoos/ I’m draining the blood between me and you … And I ain’t never touching yours again.” Bryan further questions emotional sincerity in one of the verses, asking, “Do you love people just to win when it’s over? … Do you still talk s–t on all your friends?”
The lyrics also contain a potentially personal note: “Are you walking ’round Tribeca with him?” This line may reference LaPaglia’s move to New York City in late 2024 after their breakup.
Representatives for both Bryan and LaPaglia have been contacted for comments regarding the album’s themes.
LaPaglia, a social media influencer and podcaster, was in a relationship with Bryan from 2023 to 2024. Following their breakup, she accused him of emotional abuse and alleged that his team offered her millions of dollars to remain silent about their relationship, an offer she claims to have declined.
On December 31, 2025, Bryan married Leonard, an artist. In another track from With Heaven on Top, titled “Slicked Back,” Bryan sings, “Used to know some folks who put it all online, but you paint landscapes in the evening time.”
LaPaglia has not publicly responded to news of her ex-boyfriend’s marriage. However, shortly after the wedding, she posted a TikTok where she lip-synced to Taylor Swift’s “Mastermind,” prompting numerous interpretations that it may allude to her past with Bryan.
While Bryan sings about tattoo removal, LaPaglia has stated she has no intention of removing hers. In November 2024, she addressed concerns about her tattoo in a TikTok video, asserting, “That is my tattoo.”
She added, “Now we’re matching. OK? Don’t get it removed. This is mine. ‘How lucky are we?’ That was me.”
