Taking place in Thailand, the film is a fast-paced romantic comedy that transforms into a thrilling emotional journey. The story follows Yulee, a mother desperate to reunite with her missing son. The plot thickens when both her son and a famous hippo named Moo Deng are inadvertently kidnapped inside a food truck, triggering an exhilarating police chase that uncovers secrets and misunderstandings.
Amidst the escalating chaos, the film delves into the intricacies of its characters, revealing fractured relationships and the emotional repercussions of past choices. What begins as a desperate search evolves into a narrative about second chances, ultimately highlighting the enduring significance of family and love.
Choi stars alongside Thai actor Mario Maurer and comedian Jack Fanchan, who co-produces and co-directs the film with Watcharapong Pattama.
Choi’s compelling performance captures the film’s tonal shifts effectively. “When it came to preparing for the role as Me Ree, I leaned heavily on my own experience of being a mother and the wide range of emotions that comes with motherhood,” she remarked.
As the U.S. rollout of Food Truck: Stolen Love…And Moo Deng continues, Choi is also working on new music and a highly anticipated television series expected to premiere later this year.
