YouTube Homepage, App, and TV Experience Outage; Issues Fixed with Recommendation System Update
YouTube experienced a temporary outage affecting users’ ability to load videos, prompting widespread complaints on social media. The disruption lasted a few hours, as many users reported issues with streaming content on the platform.
In a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, TeamYouTube acknowledged the problems, stating, “If you’re having trouble accessing YouTube right now, you’re not alone — our teams are looking into this.” Shortly after, the service provided an update explaining the cause of the outage.
According to the update, “An issue with our recommendations system prevented videos from appearing across surfaces on YouTube (including the homepage, the YouTube app, YouTube Music, and YouTube Kids). The homepage is back, but we’re still working on a full fix.”
Additionally, YouTube reported a small number of concerns regarding user access to YouTube TV, linking this issue to the broader outage and confirming efforts to resolve it.
In a more recent announcement, YouTube shared that the recommendation system had been fully fixed. “We really appreciate you bearing with us while we sorted this out,” the service stated.
On X, YouTube celebrated the resolution, saying, “Aaaand we’re back!! This issue has been fixed across YouTube. Thanks for all the reports and for bearing with us while we sorted it out.”
The swift acknowledgment and resolution of the issue reflect YouTube’s commitment to its user experience.
