The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon Set for March 8
The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon is approaching, with the highly anticipated event scheduled for Sunday, March 8. The race will kick off at Dodger Stadium, drawing over 25,000 participants in what promises to be an exciting and vibrant celebration of running.
Event Details
The marathon is set to begin at 7 a.m., offering runners a window of 6 hours and 30 minutes to finish the race after the last participant crosses the start line. The 26.2-mile course features a scenic route through iconic neighborhoods and landmarks, including Little Tokyo, Capitol Records Tower, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theater, Chateau Marmont, Rodeo Drive, Chinatown, Sunset Strip, and Beverly Hills. Along the way, spectators can expect various entertainment options, including cheer zones and performances from DJs, dragon dancers, and drummers.
The finish line will be located at Santa Monica Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars in Century City, where a festival will welcome spectators to celebrate the achievements of the runners.
NBC4 and Telemundo 52 have been announced as the official broadcasting partners for this year’s marathon, with coverage in both English and Spanish continuing through at least 2029.
Road Closures
As the marathon approaches, attendees should be mindful of road closures:
- Freeway ramp closures will affect parts of north and southbound U.S. Route 101 and Interstate 405, with some closures beginning as early as 3 a.m. on race day.
- Street closures will commence at 4 a.m. on March 8. A comprehensive map of road closures is expected to be finalized a week prior to the event.
Spectator Parking
Spectators are encouraged to make parking arrangements in advance, with options such as Westfield Century City, 1999 Avenue of the Stars, and 10250 Constellation available for pre-paid lots. Attendees should observe all "no parking" signs in surrounding neighborhoods.
In a related event, over 3,000 students recently participated in the annual Students Run LA Friendship Run at Hansen Dam, aiming to qualify for the upcoming marathon.
Other Events Over Marathon Weekend
In addition to the main marathon, several events will take place throughout the race weekend:
Expo & Bib Pick-up: Friday, March 6, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday, March 7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Dodger Stadium, Lot G. This lifestyle expo will feature approximately 100 exhibitors and is free to the public.
LA 5K: Saturday, March 7, at 8 a.m., starting and ending at Dodger Stadium.
LA Kids Run: Also on Saturday, March 7, beginning at 9:45 a.m., this ½-km run is designed for young runners aged 3-8.
Charity Half Marathon: On Sunday, March 8, starting at 8:15 a.m. from Dodger Stadium, this 13.7-mile course will support various charity partners, including The McCourt Foundation.
