XYZ and Paris-Based ‘Paper Tiger’ Team Up for Exciting Multi-Film Partnership Starting with Kristen Stewart and Wagner Moura’s Latest Movie at Cannes Market
U.S. and Paris Production Companies Announce Multi-Picture Financing Partnership
In a significant move within the film industry, U.S. sales and production outfit XYZ Films has partnered with Paris-based producer-financier Vixens on a multi-picture slate financing deal. This collaboration aims to deliver a series of ambitious projects over the coming years.
The first film to emerge from this partnership is Flesh Of The Gods, featuring notable performances by Kristen Stewart and Wagner Moura. XYZ’s financing for the project is supported by IPR.VC and YouRoc.
Directed by Panos Cosmatos, Flesh Of The Gods follows his previous work, the genre film Mandy, which starred Nicolas Cage and was also produced by XYZ Films.
Vixens, led by Gary Farkas, Clément Lepoutre, and Olivier Muller, is part of a broader collective that includes Phantasm, a commercials and music video label, and Phenomena, a photography agency. This collective has been instrumental in financing multiple notable independent films, including the acclaimed Cannes entries Paper Tiger and Full Phil, both of which feature Stewart.
“XYZ and Vixens have a long friendship built on shared creative taste. We are excited to deliver a strong slate of films supporting visionary filmmakers with a bold approach to cinematic storytelling,” said Nate Bolotin, co-founder of XYZ.
Farkas echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the unique production model employed by XYZ Films. He remarked, “We’ve long been impressed by the distinctive model XYZ has built: producing bold films, often shot internationally, and with a keen understanding of the market. A key aspect of our culture at Vixens is our international outlook and our appetite for global collaboration. Together with XYZ, we will produce a slate of ambitious, filmmaker-driven films that resonate with audiences worldwide.”
Currently, XYZ’s slate also includes the SXSW Audience Award winner Over Your Dead Body, featuring an ensemble cast that includes Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Juliette Lewis, and Timothy Olyphant. The company’s TIFF action title, The Furious, is slated for theatrical release by Lionsgate this summer.
Meanwhile, Vixens is showcasing its work at the Cannes Film Festival with the much-anticipated competition drama Paper Tiger, starring Adam Driver, Miles Teller, and Scarlett Johansson, as well as Full Phil, which features Woody Harrelson, Kristen Stewart, and Charlotte Le Bon. The company has also previously contributed financing to films such as Dog 51 and Emilia Perez.
