Wisconsin Woman Shares Shocking Facebook Post After Incident with Two Older Individuals
Wisconsin Woman Charged After Allegedly Striking Pedestrians and Brandishing Knife
A 25-year-old Wisconsin woman faces serious charges after allegedly using her car to intentionally strike two pedestrians and subsequently attacking a man with a knife. Katelyn A. Harmon has been charged with multiple offenses, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and failure to report a crash resulting in personal injury.
According to Gurnee police, Harmon was driving a Toyota Camry in the parking lot of Gurnee Mills shopping center on the morning of February 2 when she struck a 79-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman. The collision occurred shortly after 10 a.m. The 79-year-old sustained serious injuries and was transported to Advocate Condell Hospital, while the 60-year-old woman suffered an ankle injury and was taken to Lake Forest Hospital.
Following the incidents, Harmon reportedly boasted about her actions on Facebook, posting images of her damaged windshield alongside messages that referenced her intent. “I ran through gurnee mills mall parking lot and ran over people in the name of the light,” she wrote. Later, she shared a video showing herself with a large kitchen knife, taunting the authorities searching for her.
Witnesses on social media began tagging the Gurnee Police in response to Harmon’s posts, urging them to check on the victims. As police searched the area for her vehicle, they encountered a disturbance involving Harmon and a man in a nearby parking lot. When officers attempted to separate the two, Harmon approached them aggressively, prompting the use of a Taser for her apprehension.
In the altercation, Harmon used a butcher knife to strike the man’s car window and slash a tire. The man sustained several lacerations to his hands during the struggle but managed to restrain Harmon until police arrived.
Local reports indicated that when questioned about her motivations, Harmon allegedly stated, “I was planning on murdering someone,” adding, “I just went rogue.” Law enforcement officials confirmed that their investigation into Harmon’s actions is ongoing. “All involved incidents appear to be connected and seem to be random acts of violence,” noted a police statement, assuring the public that there is no ongoing threat related to these events.
