William Jackson Harper Joins FX Limited Series ‘Cry Wolf’
William Jackson Harper, known for his roles in The Good Place and The Morning Show, has signed on for FX’s limited series Cry Wolf. The show, from creator Sarah Treem, takes inspiration from the Danish series Ulven Kommer (Cry Wolf), crafted by Maja Jul Larsen.
Harper joins an impressive cast that includes Olivia Colman, Brie Larson, Shawn Hatosy, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Jack Greig.
Cry Wolf is a psychological thriller centered around social worker Kath (Colman) and mother April (Larson), who face a dire crisis when April’s teenage daughter, Mia (Lind), alleges abuse, forcing both women into a harrowing situation.
Hatosy will portray April’s husband and Mia’s stepfather, a pivotal figure in the abuse allegations. Greig takes on the role of April’s son.
Harper will play Arthur, Kath’s supervisor at Child Protective Services, noted for his good sense of humor. Production is set to begin shortly.
Produced by FX Productions, Cry Wolf will be executive produced by Treem as showrunner, alongside Colman via her South of the River Pictures, Melissa Bernstein of Special Interests, and Larson.
Harper, an Emmy and Tony nominee, recently appeared in the fourth season of The Morning Show. He is best remembered for his role as Chidi in NBC’s The Good Place, which earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He also received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya on Broadway.
Looking ahead, Harper will lead the anthology series American Hostage on MGM+, co-created and executive produced by Shawn Ryan and Eileen Myers. His television credits also include Netflix’s A Man In Full, HBO Max’s Love Life—which he also executive produced—and Amazon’s The Underground Railroad. Harper is represented by UTA, AC Management, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
