Will Poulter Joins as Special Guest Judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Vs The World
The eagerly anticipated RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs the World will welcome a lineup of special guest judges in its upcoming season next year.
Among the first celebrities announced are The Bear and Black Mirror actor Will Poulter, pop duo Bananarama’s Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward, Amandaland star Lucy Punch, and acclaimed singer Anastacia, known for her hit “Left Outside Alone.”
Adding even more star power, Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies, who has a long history of creating successful content centered on the queer community, will make a special appearance, according to the BBC. The full roster of guest judges joining RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, and Graham Norton will be announced in the coming weeks.
Poulter’s involvement is a notable addition for the BBC Three series. The London-born actor has received an Emmy nomination for his performances in The Bear and Dopesick, and his extensive filmography includes credits in Black Mirror, The Underground Railroad, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
“I’m so excited to be a guest judge,” Poulter commented. “I’ve been a fan of Drag Race for years, and being there in person to see the competition live was a surreal experience and even more amazing than I had imagined.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs the World is a spin-off of Drag Race UK, featuring UK queens from prior seasons going head-to-head with international contestants. This year’s Season 2 was won by UK queen Tia Kofi, who triumphed over Australia’s Hannah Conda in the finale.
Drag Race UK vs the World is set to premiere early next year. The production is a collaboration between World of Wonder and BBC Three, and is commissioned by Fiona Campbell, Interim Director of Unscripted, along with Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC. Executive producers include Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, RuPaul Charles, Bruce McCoy, Matt Green, and Johnni Javier, with Ruby Kuraishe serving as the BBC commissioning editor.
