Will Arnett Steps In as David Harbour Exits Tony Gilroy’s ‘Behemoth’
Production Update on Behemoth!: Harbour Reshoots and Arnett’s New Role
Production for the film Behemoth! commenced in late October, with insiders noting that the scenes requiring reshoots featuring actor David Harbour are minimal. Sources indicate that Harbour’s extensive involvement in Stranger Things promotional activities may have contributed to the decision to recast, but this development is not expected to delay the concluding schedule of the shoot, anticipated to wrap up in the coming weeks.
Details about the film’s plot have remained closely guarded; however, it is understood that Behemoth! centers around a cellist. Directed by Dan Gilroy, who also penned the screenplay, the project is being produced alongside Sanne Wohlenberg and John Gilroy, known for Andor. Rayne Roberts, Senior Vice President of Production, and Creative Executive Cameron Chidsey are overseeing the film for Searchlight Pictures, under the direction of the production heads DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
Will Arnett’s involvement in Behemoth! signifies a notable shift in his career, particularly following his critically acclaimed performance in the Searchlight film Is This Thing On!, which premiered over the holiday season. Traditionally recognized for his comedic roles, Arnett’s latest portrayal under the direction of Bradley Cooper has garnered him outstanding reviews, prompting the industry to view his versatility in a new light. Given the success of Is This Thing On!, sources reveal that Arnett was considered an ideal replacement once it became clear that Harbour would need to exit the project.
Arnett’s acclaimed career includes roles in The Lego Movie, The Morning Show, BoJack Horseman, and Arrested Development. He also received a Golden Globe nomination for his work on the podcast SmartLess, which he co-hosts with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes.
Will Arnett is represented by CAA.
