Whitney Leavitt Shares Thoughts on Leaving ‘The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives’ and Announces Season 5 Will Be Her Final One
Whitney Leavitt has provided further insights into her decision to depart from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
Leavitt announced her exit from the Hulu reality series during her final performance in Broadway’s Chicago. The news, initially reported on Sunday, marks the end of her involvement with the show following the conclusion of its fifth season.
In a video posted on her Instagram on May 5, Leavitt expressed her sentiments about leaving the series. “I am leaving with gratitude,” she stated.
Reflecting on her time with the show, Leavitt noted, “It’s honestly so crazy to me looking back on this journey because I had been trying to get into theater and film way before Secret Lives even came into my life.” She described her participation in the reality series as an opportunity that “fell into my life organically,” emphasizing that while it was not the path she initially envisioned, she “wouldn’t change a thing.”
Leavitt also expressed her appreciation for her fellow cast members, stating, “I have experienced so much with this group of women. We have been through so much together.” She acknowledged the highs and lows they shared, affirming that their experiences will always be a significant part of her life.
As a major star of the Emmy-nominated series, Leavitt has been central to the narrative revolving around a group of Mormon mom-influencers navigating a sex scandal that affects their faith and friendships.
The show premiered in September 2024 and recently paused production following allegations of domestic violence against fellow cast member Taylor Frankie Paul. Charges against Paul were dropped last month, and the Disney streamer announced it would resume filming for Season 5, although no specific timeline has been provided.
Leavitt, who has openly discussed her aspirations in acting, indicated that her departure from Mormon Wives was not unexpected. Last season, she revealed that her return to the series was primarily to create an opportunity for herself on Dancing with the Stars.
Looking ahead, she is set to make her feature film debut as both executive producer and star of All for Love (working title), a holiday romantic comedy produced by The Ninth House, known for Lifetime’s Forever.
