What to Know About Prime Video’s ‘Every Year After’: Cast Insights and Plot Details
Prime Video is set to deliver a vibrant adaptation of Every Summer After, a novel by Carley Fortune.
The project received a series order in late July 2024, and has since cast its main roles along with a designated showrunner. The adaptation will be titled Every Year After, deviating from the seasonal focus of Fortune’s original work.

Who is starring in the Every Summer After adaptation?
Sadie Soverall, known for her role in Saltburn, will portray Percy, while Matt Cornett of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will play Sam.
Aurora Perrineau (Kaos) will take on the role of Chantal, and Abigail Cowen (Fate: The Winx Saga) will portray Delilah. Additionally, Michael Bradway (Chicago Fire) will depict Charlie, and Joseph Chiu (Fear Street: Prom Queen) will play Jordie.
Elisha Cuthbert, known for her work in Girl Next Door and Happy Endings, will assume a recurring role as Sam’s mother, Sue Florek.
Behind the scenes, author Fortune, Prime Video, and the ‘Every Year After’ Instagram account have shared sneak peeks of the cast, including Cornett and Bradway as the Florek brothers and Cornett and Soverall as the central couple.
Who is involved in the show’s production?
Initially, Hart of Dixie and Saint X creator Leila Gerstein was slated to write the adaptation and serve as showrunner. However, the recent cast announcement revealed that Amy B. Harris will now spearhead the project as showrunner and executive producer. Fortune will also serve as an executive producer alongside Lindsey Liberatore, Amy Rardin, John Stephens, and Grace Gilroy.
Writers and consulting producers Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky, known for Sex and the City and And Just Like That, will also be contributing to the series.
What is the premise of Every Year After?
The series will chronicle the relationship between Persephone “Percy” Fraser and Sam over six transformative years in the lakeside town of Barry’s Bay. Similar to Fortune’s novel, it is characterized as a romantic and nostalgic exploration of first love, examining the enduring influence of people and choices in life. It poses the question: what if your first love was truly your soulmate?
Described as a sweeping romantic narrative, Every Year After engages with the concept of first love’s lasting significance.
How many books has Carley Fortune published?
Fortune is a published author with four titles to her name, including Every Summer After. Her subsequent works include Meet Me At the Lake, published in 2023, followed by This Summer Will Be Different in 2024, and One Golden Summer, set for release in 2025. The latter connects to Every Summer After by telling the love story of Sam’s brother Charlie, also set in Barry’s Bay. Additionally, Fortune’s Our Perfect Storm, another standalone novel, is expected to launch on May 5, 2026.
