High School Basketball Playoffs: Results from Wednesday’s Matches
In the latest round of high school basketball playoffs, several teams showcased impressive performances, solidifying their spots in upcoming rounds.
Boys City Section Open Division Quarterfinals
Top-seeded Palisades defeated El Camino Real with a score of 72 to 45. In a nail-biter, fifth-seeded San Pedro edged out fourth-seed Washington Prep, finishing 51 to 47. Sixth-seeded Fairfax also pulled off a notable victory against third-seeded Birmingham, winning 66 to 58. Second-seeded Cleveland narrowly defeated seventh-seeded Narbonne, 57 to 52.
Division I First Round
Granada Hills, the top seed, triumphed over Bernstein, 83 to 53. Ninth-seed LA Marshall prevailed against eighth-seeded Triumph Charter, winning 60 to 55. Other key matches saw LA Jordan defeating LA Hamilton, 53 to 38, and Crenshaw overcoming Grant, 69 to 58. Venice secured a win against North Hollywood, 73 to 64. Sun Valley Poly bested Westchester, 44 to 36, while Rancho Dominguez narrowly defeated Taft, 61 to 58. Chatsworth, the second seed, comfortably defeated LA Wilson with a score of 81 to 53.
Division II First Round
Top-seed Bravo dominated Granada Hills Kennedy, winning 76 to 51. MSCP, seeded eighth, outperformed ninth-seed LA Roosevelt, 74 to 50. In another upset, twelfth-seeded Downtown Magnets defeated fifth-seed Dorsey, 59 to 54. King/Drew and Sylmar also moved forward in their matches, winning against View Park and Lincoln, respectively.
Division III First Round
Top-seeded RFK Community clinched a convincing 69 to 51 victory over Wilmington Banning. Eighth-seed South Gate fell to ninth-seed Orthopaedic, 43 to 33. The fifth seed, Huntington Park, advanced with a 52 to 37 win over twelfth-seed WISH Academy. In another close matchup, fourth-seeded Hollywood narrowly defeated Middle College, 55 to 51.
Division IV First Round
In a significant upset, sixteenth-seeded Jefferson overwhelmed seventeenth-seeded Larchmont Charter, scoring 95 to 53. USC-MAE, twentieth seed, and West Adams, fourteenth seed, also advanced after winning their respective matches.
Division V First Round

Division I First Round
Crean Lutheran, the top seed, dominated Santa Barbara, winning 87 to 61. A close match saw eighth-seed Mira Costa defeat Oaks Christian by just one point, 57 to 56. In a high-scoring game, Inglewood secured a decisive win over Tesoro, 102 to 71.
Division II First Round
Bishop Amat, the top seed, showcased their prowess with a 68 to 42 victory against La Serna. Other notable results included Eastvale Roosevelt’s 82 to 61 win over Santa Monica.
