Harry Styles Releases New Single ‘Aperture’
English singer-songwriter Harry Styles has officially returned to the music scene with his latest single, "Aperture," which was released on January 22. This marks his first new music in three years and serves as the lead track from his upcoming album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, set to debut on March 6.
The announcement of "Aperture" was made via Instagram, where Styles shared an eye-catching photo of himself wearing under-eye patches while enjoying a Big Gulp. Described as an ethereal, electronic dance track, the song reflects Styles’ experiences from his travels over the past few years.
In addition to the new single, Styles has revealed plans for a seven-city residency titled "Together, Together," commencing in May 2026. Over the course of this tour, he will perform in 50 cities across the globe, featuring 30 concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Regarding his upcoming album and tour, Styles expressed his aspirations for fans: "I just want them to come ready to dance," he stated in an interview with Capital Breakfast. He wants attendees to embrace the moment fully and enjoy the experience.
The Meaning of ‘Aperture’
The term "aperture," borrowed from photography, refers to the lens setting that determines how much light enters, hence affecting the image’s brightness and depth. Styles incorporates this concept into both the title and the lyrics, stating, “It’s best you know what you don’t/aperture lets the light in," in the pre-chorus of the song.
Aperture can also denote "an opening, hole, or gap,” sparking goodwill humor among fans regarding the title’s dual meaning.
Inspiration Behind the Lyrics
In a recent interview, Styles opened up about the inspiration for "Aperture," attributing it to the adventures he experienced during a break from touring. "I’d got really used to saying no to things because I just wasn’t able to go," he explained. He embraced a more expansive perspective last year, saying, "I’m going to say yes to everything this year," leading him to travel extensively.
During his journeys to locations such as Ibiza, Italy, and Berlin, Styles recalibrated his relationship with live music, enjoying the thrill of being in a crowd once again. "It’s just been like a massive reminder of how special it is to be in a crowd experiencing live music," he noted. This newfound appreciation directly influenced the sound and feel of "Aperture," aiming to create an album he would equally love performing as much as he enjoyed crafting it.
With "Aperture," Styles encourages a return to joyous collective experiences, inviting fans to let loose and embrace the music.
