Tyga Takes on Lead Role in Upcoming Film Baby, You’re a Star
Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated artist Tyga is set to make his feature film debut in a leading role in Baby, You’re a Star, a coming-of-age musical drama. Tyga co-wrote the film alongside Curtis Bryant, and is also serving as a producer.
The movie features a strong supporting cast, including Madison Bailey from Outer Banks and Ashton Sanders from Moonlight. Set in 1989, the narrative centers around an ambitious young artist striving to escape the constraints of his surroundings while exploring themes of love, identity, and artistic ambition.
Production is currently underway in Portland, Oregon, with a cast that also includes Apollonia, Clifton Powell, Patrick Cage, David Alan Grier, and Mike Epps.
Arrad Rahgoshay, a veteran music video director, is at the helm for his feature debut. He is collaborating with producers Brian Sher and Eric Tomosunas alongside Tyga.
Tyga, born Micheal Ray Stevenson, gained prominence in the music industry during the 2010s, particularly with his hit single "Rack City," which reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and received multi-platinum certification. This track was featured on his major-label debut album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King (2012), which debuted in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200.
Since then, Tyga has launched multiple successful albums and mixtapes, such as Hotel California and The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty, accumulating billions of global streams and numerous multi-platinum certifications. He is represented by Independent Artist Group and Artist Collective Entertainment.
