Two Hikers Who Went Missing at Mount Baldy Have Been Identified
Identification of Hikers Found Dead at Mount Baldy
Authorities have confirmed the identities of two of the three hikers discovered deceased at Mount Baldy last week. Juan Sarat Lopez, 37, and Bayron Pedro Ramos Garcia, 36, both residents of Los Angeles, were identified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The men were Guatemalan nationals living in the area.
The third hiker, Marcus Alexander Muench Casanova, 19, from Seal Beach, was identified on December 31.
The search for Muench Casanova began around 11:30 a.m. on December 29, after reports of an injured hiker near Devils Backbone, where it was later determined he had fallen approximately 500 feet.
By 7:30 p.m. the same day, an airship from Los Angeles County joined the rescue efforts. However, high winds hindered the attempt to hoist the victim. An air medic was deployed to the scene and ultimately confirmed that all three hikers had perished.
