Trevor Bauer Suggests Signing a Zero-Salary Deal with Any MLB Team
Trevor Bauer Offers Minor League Contract for $0 Salary Amid Controversy
Former major league pitcher Trevor Bauer has proposed a unique solution for his future in baseball: signing a minor league contract for a salary of zero dollars with any Major League Baseball (MLB) team. He argues that this arrangement would carry no financial risk for teams, as they could release him at any time without incurring additional costs.
Bauer, who previously played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and won the Cy Young Award, has faced serious allegations, with four women accusing him of sexual assault. He served a 194-game suspension related to these allegations but maintains his innocence and has not faced any criminal charges.
In a bid to demonstrate that signing him would not create a public relations issue, Bauer cites his recent performance with the independent Long Island Ducks. He emphasizes that there were no significant boycotts or protests during his appearances, suggesting that the interest in the game remains undiminished.
