Kansas City Chiefs fans have cause for celebration: Travis Kelce is returning for a 14th season, largely credited to the influence of pop icon Taylor Swift.
Kelce shared the news during his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, March 10, saying, “Making another run at it, baby, making another run at it,” as he confirmed his continued commitment to the NFL.
His announcement comes amid speculation about a potential retirement. Kelce addressed those rumors, stating, “You always need to take a step back, breathe, let the emotions of the season settle down, see where the body is.” Ultimately, he expressed his affection for the game and the importance of rejoining the Chiefs.
Kelce and McAfee also delved into the comments he previously made on his podcast, New Heights, discussing how his relationship with Swift has changed his perspective on public attention. “Once I started dating Taylor, I started understanding what ‘Easter eggs’ were,” he remarked, referring to Swift’s knack for embedding hidden messages in her work.
McAfee took the opportunity to explore how Swift’s rise to stardom might have influenced Kelce’s decision to return to football. “Without a doubt,” Kelce replied, highlighting the similarities in their dedication to their respective crafts.
Kelce praised Swift’s continuous evolution as an artist, noting, “Of course that’s motivating. Something like that definitely motivates me to say, ‘You know what? I’m not done either.’”
