Tragic Hit-and-Run Claims Lives of Man and Dog in Sherman Oaks
Police Search for Driver Following Fatal Hit-and-Run in Sherman Oaks
Authorities are actively seeking the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of an 80-year-old man and his dog in Sherman Oaks on Tuesday night. The collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of Woodman Avenue.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the victim was walking his Rottweiler in a bicycle lane near Moorpark Street when a northbound vehicle struck both the man and his dog. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The dog was discovered deceased under an SUV later that evening.
Witnesses at the scene provided police with a description of the vehicle, which was located a short distance away on N. Mammoth Avenue. The silver Maserati, which sustained damage to the front end and windshield, has been confirmed as not stolen.
As of now, the driver has not been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
