Tragic Christmas Week Car Accident Claims Teen’s Life
Fatal Collision Claims Life of 16-Year-Old in Long Beach
A 16-year-old girl has died following a serious car accident in Long Beach, authorities reported on Thursday. The tragic incident occurred on December 23 around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Wardlow Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the 16-year-old passenger and a 17-year-old male driver of a 2007 Saturn Aura, both of whom were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of a second vehicle, a 2021 Jeep Wrangler, sustained no injuries and is cooperating with investigators.
Preliminary reports indicated that both vehicles were traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard when the Saturn attempted to change lanes and collided with the Jeep. The Long Beach Police Department noted that "speed and distracted driving may have been contributing factors to this collision."
Tragically, the 16-year-old passenger succumbed to her injuries on Christmas Eve. Police have not released her identity due to her age.
