Man Found Dead Under Vehicle in Downtown Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES – A death investigation is underway after a 45-year-old man was discovered trapped beneath a vehicle in downtown Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of Pico Boulevard and South Broadway at approximately 3 a.m. following reports of an individual trapped. Upon arrival, firefighters employed specialized equipment to lift the car, allowing them to recover the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene despite their efforts.
The Los Angeles Police Department has taken charge of the investigation, which seeks to determine whether the death was the result of a tragic accident or foul play. As of now, officials have not established how the man came to be under the vehicle, nor has it been confirmed whether the car was in motion or parked at the time of the incident.
Investigators have not released the victim’s identity, and there are currently no details regarding a potential driver or suspects.
In the coming days, the LAPD plans to canvass nearby businesses for surveillance footage that may provide insight into the events leading up to this tragic occurrence. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is expected to take custody of the body to establish the exact cause of death, which will help determine if the case remains a traffic incident or transitions to a criminal inquiry.
