Tori Kelly is set to delight her fans with new music, having announced her sixth studio album, God Must Really Love Me, on Tuesday, May 5, through an Instagram post. The album artwork revealed that the LP will be released on June 12.
In anticipation of the album, Kelly will also release two singles, “Control” and “Dive,” on May 8.
God Must Really Love Me follows Kelly’s 2024 self-titled album, Tori. Described as her “most intimate work yet,” the new project delves into themes of love and identity, as well as the challenges of maintaining inner peace amidst external chaos.
This announcement comes just six months after the birth of Kelly’s first child with her husband, André Murillo. A press release indicated that Kelly experienced a surge of inspiration shortly after becoming a mother, which significantly influenced her creative process.
“Before the baby was born I’d tried to work on as many songs as possible, because I thought maybe I wouldn’t want to write once I was in mom mode,” Kelly stated. “But then everything just hit me at once, and right away I knew what I needed to say and exactly how I wanted it to sound.”
Kelly wrote most of the album alone before collaborating with producers and co-writers, including DIXSON (Kehlani, Vic Mensa), Nija Charles (Summer Walker, Kiana Ledé), Emily Warren (Dua Lipa, Noah Kahan), and Ammo (Beyoncé, Teddy Swims). Her primary collaborators on the album are Tommy King (HAIM, Donna Missal) and Dan Farber (Lizzo, Alessia Cara).
