Tom McCarthy’s Untitled Drama Wraps Production with Expanded Cast
Sony Pictures Classics has officially wrapped production on Tom McCarthy’s untitled drama, adding several actors to the cast, including Noah Robbins, Zach Woods, Nina Arianda, Mary Catherine Garrison, Michael Chernus, Dylan Baker, Michael Cerveris, and Alan Aisenberg.
Additionally, Eli Bildner, Jim Klock, Bryan Batt, Christopher Denham, Zak Orth, Billy Slaughter, Joey Slotnick, Aaron Jay Rome, and Ari Golin have joined the project.
Previously announced stars include Paul Rudd, Evan Peters, Amy Ryan, Paul Giamatti, John Turturro, Tatiana Maslany, and Jason Clarke.
The film is based on Nathaniel Rich’s book, Losing Earth. The synopsis reveals that in 1980, twenty experts convene at a beachside resort in Florida for a weekend conference addressing a significant emerging issue: the effects of CO2 emissions on climate change. The group, comprised of scientists, activists, and policymakers, faces a daunting task set by Congress: to draft a statement outlining potential solutions.
Sony Pictures Classics co-financed the film, with a screenplay adapted by Thomas Bidegan, Noé Debré, and McCarthy, who is also a renowned filmmaker known for Spotlight. The production team includes Jonathan King and David Levine for Anonymous Content, Jim Whitaker, Rae Baron, and McCarthy for Slow Pony, with Jonathan Schwartz, Nick Shumaker, and Bard Dorros of Anonymous Content, alongside Mary Aloe of Aloe Entertainment.
Executive producers encompass a diverse array of names, including Alex Gibney, Wendy Schmidt, Richard Perello, and Robert Kessel for Jigsaw Productions, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck for Artists Equity, as well as Alex Lebovici for Hammerstone Studios.
