Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton commemorated the impending closure of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith by visiting the attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida on January 27. At 74 years old, Hamilton expressed his desire to experience the ride “one last time before it takes its final lap.”
In a post on January 28, he shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, stating, “What a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with my new band, @closeenemiesofficial. It’s been an absolute honor to share this ride with our fans for so many years.”
Hamilton extended his gratitude to the park’s staff, noting, “Huge thanks to the amazing cast members for the warmth, hospitality and respect for what this moment means. Thanks for letting us all #RideThisWay.”
During his visit, Hamilton captured various moments, including a signed portrait of Aerosmith and a ride alongside his band, Close Enemies, who are currently on tour. Videos from the day showcased band members being escorted through the attraction’s queue, met with cheers from onlookers.
Park guest Al Rodriguez recounted the excitement of the moment, recalling, “It’s not something you expect, and everyone was excited.” The band also took time to pose for photos with fans near the ride’s show building, as shared in a video sent by a fellow guest.
The last day of operation for the ride will be March 1, when Aerosmith will be permanently removed from the attraction.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which has been a staple at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since its opening in 1999, features a state-of-the-art audio system playing Aerosmith songs, including hits like “Walk This Way” and “Love in an Elevator,” rewritten as “Love in a Roller Coaster.”
In December, reports indicated that the ride’s pre-show entertainment was permanently removed leading up to its transformation into a Muppets-themed attraction, set to open later this year. The new experience will welcome guests into a recording studio featuring characters like the Electric Mayhem band and others.
