This Week’s Weather: Expect High Winds and Warmer Days Ahead
Gusty Santa Ana Winds to Persist in Los Angeles County
Forecasters predict that strong Santa Ana winds will continue to impact parts of Los Angeles County throughout the week. The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended a wind advisory until at least 1 p.m. on Monday, affecting regions including Malibu, Pacific Palisades, the Santa Monica Mountains, and the San Fernando, Santa Clarita, and Antelope valleys.
Initially set to expire on Sunday, the advisory was renewed in response to ongoing wind conditions. An additional advisory for Orange County will remain in effect until at least 2 p.m. on Monday.
The NWS warns that "gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects," leading to potential hazards such as fallen tree limbs and power outages. Forecasters also advise caution while driving, particularly for high-profile vehicles, as strong winds can create challenging conditions on the road.
Northeast winds are expected to reach speeds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially hitting 50 mph. Temperatures are anticipated to gradually rise over the week, peaking on Wednesday and Thursday when highs in some valley areas could reach the 80s, approaching record levels, according to the NWS.
