The Roots Are Back: Catch the Hip-Hop Band Live at the Hollywood Bowl This June
The Roots to Headline ‘A Roots Picnic Experience’ at Hollywood Bowl
The Los Angeles Philharmonic, in collaboration with Live Nation Urban, has announced the return of the GRAMMY award-winning hip-hop group The Roots to the historic Hollywood Bowl. Titled "A Roots Picnic Experience: A Great Night in Hip-Hop," the concert is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, and promises a memorable evening featuring The Roots alongside hip-hop legend NAS and special guests T.I., Bun B, and De La Soul. Tickets went on sale on January 23.
This event builds on the success of last summer’s sold-out concert, "Roots Picnic: Class of ’95," which brought The Roots’ unique curation of artists to the West Coast for the second time. That previous performance showcased an impressive lineup, including Lil’ Kim, Redman & Method Man, and many others. The upcoming concert is designed to maintain the high standards set by its predecessor, which Rolling Stone lauded as “Hip-Hop’s Greatest Festival.” Attendees can expect electrifying performances, signature tracks from The Roots, and various surprises throughout the night.
Founded in 1987, The Roots also serve as the house band for "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," solidifying their presence in both live performance and television.
As the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for over a century, the Hollywood Bowl continues its tradition of classical music concerts and diverse programming. The venue will present classical performances every Tuesday and Thursday night, led by Gustavo Dudamel, along with other noted guest conductors. Jazz Plus nights will showcase a broad spectrum of jazz music under the guidance of LA Phil’s Creative Chair for Jazz, Herbie Hancock. Weekends will feature popular music acts, film presentations, and the KCRW Festival.
The complete schedule for the Hollywood Bowl’s 2026 season will be revealed later this month.
